Types & Sizes of Crushed Stone (Bajri)
Understanding aggregate sizes is critical for structural safety. Each type of bajri (crushed stone aggregate) serves a specific purpose in building foundations, RCC roof slabs, and flooring.
4 Sutar Bajri
آدھی ڈاؤنThe most widely used aggregate in Pakistan for RCC roof slabs, pillars, beams, and columns. Offers perfect cement bond strength.
3 Sutar Bajri
تین سوترIdeal for thin concrete work, lintels, concrete pipes, hollow blocks, and tuff tile manufacturing requiring fine aggregate density.
2 Sutar Bajri
دو سوترUsed primarily for chips flooring, terrazzo tiles, fine precast products, and specialized plaster mixes.
Khaka (Stone Dust)
خاکہEssential bedding material for laying tuff tiles, paver blocks, and sub-base leveling before floor concrete pours.
Rora (Crushed Base)
روڑا / موٹا کرشHeavy coarse stone aggregate used for building foundation filling, road base compaction, and under-floor soling work.
Margalla Limestone
مارگلہ کرشHigh compressive strength limestone aggregate quarried from Margalla Hills, preferred for multi-story commercial plazas.

Margalla Bajri vs. Sargodha Bajri: Key Differences
Both Margalla and Sargodha are major aggregate sources in Pakistan, but they differ in rock origin, color, and structural crushing strength.
Margalla Crushed Stone (مارگلہ بجری)
- Color & Texture: Light blueish grey limestone with sharp angular edges.
- Compressive Strength: High load-bearing capacity; ideal for commercial plazas and heavy RCC roofs.
- Primary Markets: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Northern Punjab, and Azad Kashmir.
Sargodha Crushed Stone (سرگودھا بجری)
- Color & Texture: Dark grey/blackish hard stone aggregate with dense compaction properties.
- Compressive Strength: High durability; widely used for residential house construction and floor concrete.
- Primary Markets: Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, and Central Punjab.
How to Calculate Bajri Required (in Cft)
Bajri is measured in Cubic Feet (Cft) or by Dumper capacity. To calculate Cft for an RCC roof slab:
Formula: (Length in ft × Width in ft × Thickness in inches) ÷ 12
Example: For a 1,000 sq ft roof slab of 5-inch thickness = (1000 × 5) ÷ 12 = 416 Cft of concrete volume.
Site Inspection & Quality Check Tips
Before unloading a dumper at your construction site, check these 3 factors:
- ✓ No Mud or Silt: Ensure the bajri is free from mud coating, which weakens cement bonding.
- ✓ Uniform Sizing: Verify that 4-Sutar or 3-Sutar stones are evenly graded without excess dust.
- ✓ Dumper Box Measurement: Measure dumper box (Length × Width × Height) to confirm accurate Cft volume.
